Venezuela’s presidential election, which will be held on October 7, will not only be an electoral dispute between President Hugo Chávez and the opposition’s candidate Henrique Capriles. The citizens’ vote will choose either to continue or bring to and end a project that has been radically changing the country since 1998, strongly influencing the whole continent.
Opera Mundi, understanding the importance of this political battle and our reader’s interest in better understanding the Venezuelan experience, sent a team of reporters to produce a portrait of the Bolivarian project – its creators refer to it as “socialism of the XXI century”.
As a result, we will publish 14 reports, in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French, that altogether constitute a panel of both the transformations held by Chávez’s government and the problems he had to face in the last 14 years.
